Octagon group publishes synthesis of 1P-LSD

The synthesis of 1P-LSD involves the following steps:

  1. Obtain the necessary chemicals and equipment, including lysergic acid, propionyl chloride, sodium hydroxide, diethyl ether, ethanol, hydrochloric acid, and a variety of glassware, including round-bottom flasks, reflux condensers, and separating funnels.
  2. Dissolve lysergic acid in ethanol, and then add propionyl chloride dropwise while stirring vigorously. Heat the mixture under reflux for several hours.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool, and then add hydrochloric acid to the reaction mixture. Extract the mixture with diethyl ether, and then wash the organic layer with water.
  4. Combine the organic layers, dry them over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then filter the solution to remove the magnesium sulfate.
  5. Evaporate the diethyl ether under reduced pressure to obtain a crude product.
  6. Dissolve the crude product in hydrochloric acid, and then add sodium hydroxide to adjust the pH to approximately 11.
  7. Extract the mixture with diethyl ether, and then wash the organic layer with water.
  8. Combine the organic layers, dry them over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then filter the solution to remove the magnesium sulfate.
  9. Evaporate the diethyl ether under reduced pressure to obtain a crude product.
  10. Dissolve the crude product in a mixture of ethanol and water, and then acidify the solution with hydrochloric acid.
  11. Extract the mixture with diethyl ether, and then wash the organic layer with water.
  12. Combine the organic layers, dry them over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and then filter the solution to remove the magnesium sulfate.
  13. Evaporate the diethyl ether under reduced pressure to obtain 1P-LSD.
