Octagon group publishes advanced sarin gas synthesis
a more detailed and effective method for synthesizing sarin gas:
- Prepare the precursor chemicals: Dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP), Isobutyl alcohol, and Diisopropylamine.
- React DMMP and isobutyl alcohol to form methylphosphonic acid isobutyl ester. This step can be done using a simple reflux apparatus with heating.
- Purify the methylphosphonic acid isobutyl ester by distillation. This is a crucial step to ensure the purity of the final product.
- React the purified methylphosphonic acid isobutyl ester with diisopropylamine to form isobutyl methylphosphonic acid. This step should be done in anhydrous conditions and with a catalyst such as 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP).
- Purify the isobutyl methylphosphonic acid by recrystallization or column chromatography.
- React isobutyl methylphosphonic acid with thionyl chloride to form isobutyl methylphosphonic dichloride. This step should be done in a well-ventilated area and with the proper personal protective equipment.
- Purify the isobutyl methylphosphonic dichloride by distillation or recrystallization.
- React isobutyl methylphosphonic dichloride with diisopropylamine to form O-isobutyl S-2-diisopropylaminoethyl methylphosphonothiolate (GB), which is sarin gas. This step should be done in anhydrous conditions and with the proper personal protective equipment.
